Bay Area-based Flight Design Co. is a strategy and graphic design studio. In addition to offering custom design, business development and creative strategy services, Flight Design has created a four-week comprehensive branding program called Launch Sessions. Says creative strategist Ariana Pritchett: “We work with small and creative businesses to develop a brand identity that showcases their work, speaks to their ideal customer, and represents their own unique point of view.”
It’s clear from Flight Design’s portfolio that they have many talents. Projects range from building a brand’s aesthetic to custom illustration for letterpress printed wedding invitations. Their work features well executed typography and bright color palettes. They also have a valuable trait in an increasingly digital world: their design sensibility transfers easily from a screen to ink and paper.
We felt this photograph captured both the inspiring and daunting elements of embarking on these new adventures.
They created custom Scout Books as gifts for friends and supporters (who they lovingly refer to as the #flightcollective). Their notebooks feature cyan ink and bright pink staples, and the design is largely based on a 35 mm photograph taken by their friend and analog photographer César Rafael Rodríguez Ángeles with a sprocket rocket camera. Says art director Katrina McHugh: “Many of our clients are just starting their businesses which can be both exciting and overwhelming. We felt this photograph captured both the inspiring and daunting elements of embarking on these new adventures. There might be a big climb ahead but … KEEP GOING.”
Thanks to Katrina, Ariana and Matt for sharing these photos of their custom Scout Books.
