Based in Tualatin, Oregon, Union Wine Company is forging a new path in the wine industry. Their design is sleek, modern, and eye-catching. Their wines are available in ultra handy cans. They travel around sharing their line of wines from a stylish, retro tasting-mobile.
In yet another innovative move, they recently worked with us to self publish a book of rosé wine cocktails. They’d been experimenting with wine cocktails, and found their rosé to be versatile in different drinks. When brainstorming how to promote their 2015 vintage, the idea for the cocktail book was born. The books are being sent in all direct-to-consumer shipments, to distributors, and to PR/media teams who handle their rosé press. They’re also used in stores that stock Union Wine, and with the sales representatives, who use them to show how versatile their wines are.
For the gorgeous (full-color!) illustrations, they worked with The Ellaphant in the Room, a Brooklyn-based illustration studio who specializes in murals and larger scale illustrations. Union Wine’s photographer, David Reamer, sourced the illustrators, and also sent beautiful photos of the drinks for them to work from.
The drink recipes were created by a variety of Portland bartenders, each one lending their own style to a drink. Says Union’s Marketing Manager Heather Walberg:
Portland is a city that places so much emphasis on collaboration and helping one another. We were humbled by the fact that some of the most creative and innovative bartenders around Portland were willing to take time out of their days to put together some amazing cocktails.
This project from Union Wine is a great example of how custom Scout Books can be used to collaborate and self publish. Here’s hoping this is the first of many handy cocktail books from these talented winemakers!
